As If!

Ok so prepare yourselves for a photo overload

Dress- Thrifted, Thigh high socks & boots- Urban Outfitters
So yeah, sorry for all the pictures. Actually not really considering this is my blog, therefore I can post whatever I want. My friend Emily took these pictures and I just think she's really talented. I'm not vain, I promise.
My friend Pranaya sent me this quote about short hair with me the other day and I wanted to share it. I've been obsessed with it not only because it's fantastic, but also because I feel that it relates to a lot of my feelings about wanting to change my style since cutting my hair.

"With short hair you begin to crave pearl necklaces, long earrings, and a variety of sunglasses. And you brush your teeth more often. Short hair removes obvious femininity and replaces it with style. When it starts growing out a little and losing its style, you have to wear sunglasses until you can get it to the hairdresser. That’s why you need a variety. Short hair makes you aware of subtraction as style. You can no longer wear puffed sleeves or ruffles; the neat is suddenly preferable to the fussy. You eye the tweezers instead of the blusher. What else can you take away? You can’t hide behind short hair… you may look a little androgynous, a little unfinished, a little bare… but your face is no longer a flat screen surrounded by a curtain: the world sees you in three dimensions."

And on a final note, IS THIS WILDFOX SWEATER A REAL THING?!
Their whole Clueless inspired line makes me want to cry. It's so perfect.
Also my birthday is in July......in case you were wondering....*cough cough*

What the Grunge?

So lately I've been slightly perplexed. With NYFW just finishing, new trends are especially being talked about right now. But there is one in particular that I keep hearing as the "new trend for 2013"– grunge.
Wait.
What.
Like hold on a second.
That's the "new" trend? Like I am legitimately confused. As far as I know, grunge has been the major trend for the past YEAR, and honestly, I think it's beginning to fade rather quickly. I don't know about you, but the more I see preteens walking around in flannels and Nirvana shirts they picked up from Brandy Melville, the less I have the desire to wear basically what has been my uniform for the past year. And while I can assure you that there are certain things I will never ditch, like my Docs and denim jacket, I feel like the whole "wear as many contrasting prints, especially floral, as you can and try to look as homeless as possible" thing is really getting old.
And maybe that is just me. And maybe this has a large part to do with the short hair. Ever since I cut my hair I've strangely been craving simplicity and a weird form of elegance and class. But I think a large part of this has to do with the 60s coming back in. For me, that is the prominent trend of the year. I mean just look:
Louis Vuitton
Marc Jacobs
Honor
Or how about my favorite, and honestly all that matters. CHLOË FREAKING SEVIGNY X opening ceremony:

In fact I really encourage you to check out her whole collection HERE because honestly it's beyond perfect.
Now I'm not saying ditch the 90s altogether. Because I definitely think this 60s trend should be taken with an edgy grungy approach. But I think it's time to say goodbye to that floral maxi and oversized flannel.
I'm really hoping to dive more into this trend, but at the moment I don't have the finances to fuel this desire. Speaking of finances, I recently added some freaking awesome buttons to my etsy. Check them out HERE!

California Goths

Coat- Thrifted,  Joy Division Tank- H&M, Velvet Leggings- American Apparel, Boots- Thrifted, Flower Crown- DIY
My friend Emily and I snuck up on the roof of my dorm building one afternoon to take these pictures. It was a gloomy day but the sunset was still amazing. A few people stopped and stared in confusing at two girls up on the roof taking pictures. Luckily we didn't get caught though. And the view of the ocean was so absolutely perfect. Sometimes I really like my school; this was one of those moments.
My mom and sister came to visit me a few weeks ago and I took them to one of my favorite spots in San Diego– Hillcrest. There we decided to spend our time thrifting. I spent the day hunting for the perfect fur coat, but every one I found was either too much money or fit awkwardly. But then I came across this cashmere coat. It was instant love, and I don't think I've really taken it off since.

Oh and um, Prada.

I just think this is the most adorable thing ever.

These Days

Skirt- Topshop, Necklace- H&M,  Bag- Zara, Shoes- T.U.K.
So, I feel like it's time for me to make some changes to my blog. For example, all my posts seem to be "oh hey look at my outfit" without any surface material. So I'm hoping to get more into this whole fashion blogging thing, in the sense that I, you know, talk about fashion every once in a while. And maybe become more consistant in my posting. That'd be cool.
In the meantime, I leave you with some words of encouragement (this is directed to the ladies, sorry boys.)
1. You are the same gender as Beyonce
2. Hopefully, you aren't addicted to crack cocaine, so things are going pretty good in that sense
Alright good talk.
