Bottle Rocket

Trends are so interesting. Especially how fast they move; one second you could be absolutely obsessed with something, the next it makes you feel sick when you still see it. For me this is flower crowns. Now, I know I JUST did a post in which I was wearing one, but I honestly made that decision to wear it for the way it would look with the scenery I was shooting in, rather to be like "Oh look at me in my flower crown I'm so cool and trendy omg!" While in certain circumstances I think the flower can still be done right, for the most part all I associate them with now are Coachella fan girls running around in a flower crown they bought for $50 at Urban Outfitters and a Nirvana shirt they got at Brandy Melville. I call them the "Brandy Melville Crowd." And it doesn't stop there. The other day I was sitting around bored, so I naturally turned on Bravo, because what else do you do when your bored. The show "Long Island Princesses" was on, and basically the best way to describe this show is a mix between Jersey Shore and Real Housewives. It's as terrible as it gets. But whilst watching it, I noticed one of the girls on it was wearing, yep you guessed it, a flower crown. I literally was wanting to scream at my tv "PLEASE CAN THIS TREND DIE ALREADY?!?!?!"
The thing that baffles me with this flower crown phenomena is the fact that they were introduced a year ago, yet people act like its this brand new thing this summer. I know I didn't invent the trend, but for some reason it bugs me that the same people who last year questioned why I would incorporate them in my style are just now wearing them. Maybe it is wrong for me to be bugged by this? I mean I guess that's what experimenting with trends is all about.

After Hours

All I can think of when looking at these pictures is, "Look how desperately I needed a haircut." Well since then, I have gotten a haircut, but being the inconsistent blogger that I am these pictures are obviously from a few weeks ago. Since then I've made the decision to get a haircut that will allow me to grow out my short 'do without it looking funky, like in these pictures. I'm actually really sad to do so. I figured it would be best for me to grow it out since I will be in Italy at the end of the year, and the last thing I want to do is find myself sitting in some random Italian salon trying to explain what I want done with the two words I'l probably know in Italian (I actually know no Italian at the moment, so wish me luck). While there are some days when I wish I still had my long hair so I could do my hair all Lana Del Rey-esque, my short hair has become my favorite accessory. It brought out the girly side in me and made me appreciate fashion and femininity in a whole new way.
But whatever it's just hair.

New Classic

Top- H&M, Skirt- American Apparel, Boots- Thrifted, Hat- Nordstrom, Earrings- Flashbacks, Sunglasses- Urban Outfitters
These photos were taken in Balboa Park in San Diego. Isn't the architecture just gorgeous? Seeing this type of style gets me really excited for Italy. The architecture is one of the main things I'm excited about for that trip. That, and the food.

As If!

Ok so prepare yourselves for a photo overload

Dress- Thrifted, Thigh high socks & boots- Urban Outfitters
So yeah, sorry for all the pictures. Actually not really considering this is my blog, therefore I can post whatever I want. My friend Emily took these pictures and I just think she's really talented. I'm not vain, I promise.
My friend Pranaya sent me this quote about short hair with me the other day and I wanted to share it. I've been obsessed with it not only because it's fantastic, but also because I feel that it relates to a lot of my feelings about wanting to change my style since cutting my hair.

"With short hair you begin to crave pearl necklaces, long earrings, and a variety of sunglasses. And you brush your teeth more often. Short hair removes obvious femininity and replaces it with style. When it starts growing out a little and losing its style, you have to wear sunglasses until you can get it to the hairdresser. That’s why you need a variety. Short hair makes you aware of subtraction as style. You can no longer wear puffed sleeves or ruffles; the neat is suddenly preferable to the fussy. You eye the tweezers instead of the blusher. What else can you take away? You can’t hide behind short hair… you may look a little androgynous, a little unfinished, a little bare… but your face is no longer a flat screen surrounded by a curtain: the world sees you in three dimensions."

Joan Juliet Buck for American Vogue, 1988

And on a final note, IS THIS WILDFOX SWEATER A REAL THING?!
Their whole Clueless inspired line makes me want to cry. It's so perfect.
Also my birthday is in July......in case you were wondering....*cough cough*

California Goths

Coat- Thrifted,  Joy Division Tank- H&M, Velvet Leggings- American Apparel, Boots- Thrifted, Flower Crown- DIY
My friend Emily and I snuck up on the roof of my dorm building one afternoon to take these pictures. It was a gloomy day but the sunset was still amazing. A few people stopped and stared in confusing at two girls up on the roof taking pictures. Luckily we didn't get caught though. And the view of the ocean was so absolutely perfect. Sometimes I really like my school; this was one of those moments.
My mom and sister came to visit me a few weeks ago and I took them to one of my favorite spots in San Diego– Hillcrest. There we decided to spend our time thrifting. I spent the day hunting for the perfect fur coat, but every one I found was either too much money or fit awkwardly. But then I came across this cashmere coat. It was instant love, and I don't think I've really taken it off since.

Oh and um, Prada.

I just think this is the most adorable thing ever.
