So I made this skirt for a school fashion show, and not going to lie I'm pretty proud of myself. It actually looks like a real skirt and everything! If only the fabric was something that could be worn in the current 100 degree weather at my house right now.
Also if you haven't noticed I have a new banner. My extremely talented friends Matt and Morgan made it for me and I'm really excited about it. It makes it look like I have my life together or something. Anyways, if you need to have some sort of logo or banner made contact them (at mlinman2100@pointloma.edu) because they are absolutely wonderful people.
Tank- American Apparel, Shorts- DIY, Pin- Burger Records
I got this pin from this cute little record store in Fullerton called Burger Records. They often have low key shows going on, which has been on of my favorite things to go to this summer. If you haven't heard of them, you should really check them out (which you can do here).
Yesterday was my 19th birthday, which has been interesting considering this is my last year as a teenager. Part of me feels really young, but part of me feels really old to think my time considering myself as a teenager is ticking away. I actually share my birthday with my dear friend Pranaya, but unfortunately I had to spend the day in the car while my family as we drove to Oregon. I do absolutely love Oregon though, and will be heading up to Portland for the first time ever in a few days. So if anyone has suggestions of things to do in Portland, please let me know!
Dress- DIY (yeah, das right), Socks and little baby barrette- Target, Shoes- Forever 21
Not going to lie, I'm super proud of this dress. I took a sewing class second semester and in it we made two pieces; I chose pants and a 60s styled shift dress. I made the pants first, and let's just say they make me want to throw up. So when I started making this dress I was pretty discouraged. But then I ended up pleasantly surprising myself and regaining courage in the idea that maybe even I can sew. Also, I totally chose baby blanket material for the fabric so its ridiculously soft.
The title of this post is referencing a song by easily one of my new favorite bands, The Cosmonauts. This summer I've been getting pretty into the local music scene in my area. I've already seen this band twice including last night at this cute lil music store in Fullerton called Burger Records. I highly suggest you give them a listen. Or check out their facebook page. Trust me, they're cool.
